Dublin, GA — Fairview Park Hospital is proud to announce it has received a five star rating from CMS for its third consecutive year and is one of only three Georgia hospitals to receive this recognition. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) created the Five-Star Quality Rating System to release vital quality measures to consumers, acting as an aid as they consider their healthcare options. Hospitals with five stars are considered to have above average quality results, whereas hospital with one star are typically considered to have quality results much below average. Ratings are based on hospital performance in five areas – safety of care, mortality, patient experience, readmission rates, and timely and effective care. Fairview Park Hospital excelled in these areas and performed above average in these areas.
“Soon after I came to Fairview, I realized I had joined a team of clinical and non-clinical staff that puts an emphasis on quality of care leading to improved patient experience and better patient outcomes,” stated Ruchi Garg, MD, Chief Medical Officer of Fairview Park Hospital. “It comes as no surprise to me that Fairview has retained its CMS five star status in 2024. Fairview has a positive reputation within Dublin-Laurens County and the surrounding communities. It is energizing to work alongside a staff that understands the big picture beyond their responsibilities at the bedside and to uphold our mission statement of remaining committed to the care and improvement of human life here in Dublin, Georgia.”
In simple terms, this recognition means Fairview Park Hospital is putting patient safety, quality of care, and patient satisfaction at the forefront of each patient’s medical journey. The dedicated Quality department within Fairview Park Hospital is comprised of clinical team members tasked with tracking patient safety, quality of care, patient risks, infection control and patient outcomes while creating strategies to improve these measures. It is vital to have staff committed to these clinical and quality studies to ensure excellence in quality and outcomes. Fairview recognizes the importance this plays in a patient’s journey and how it impacts their overall wellbeing.
“Fairview is so very blessed to have staff that just get it”, commented Don Avery, FACHE, President and CEO of Fairview Park Hospital. “From our staff and physicians working in direct patient care areas on the floors, to our clinical staff that hold positions that following quality metrics addressing what we do really well, and where we can improve – to our non-clinical ancillary staff, Fairview gets it. While receiving five stars is worth touting, we also realize we can always make improvements and better ourselves as healthcare providers and professionals. I think that’s why we do, historically, perform above the national average in quality areas – because we keep safe, patient-centered care at the forefront of what we do and strive to see how we can do better. It takes a team working towards the same goal with the same vision to receive these recognitions, and I, as CEO of this organization, am beyond proud of our team we have here and the ownership they take to keep us one of the safest hospitals in Georgia and in the region to receive care."
