Fairview Breast Center in Dublin-Laurens County

At Fairview Park Hospital, we take your breast health seriously. Inside of the Fairview Park Hospital Imaging Center is the Fairview Breast Center, our specially designed boutique area for mammogram screenings and breast exams. Early detection is key in the fight against breast cancer. We use the latest breast imaging technologies, offering clearer imaging results and the ability to diagnose breast cancer in even earlier stages.

Breast imaging services

Breast imaging is more than just a tool to diagnose breast cancer. It also helps us identify abnormal growths, cysts, lumps and mastitis within the breasts. However, a mammogram is still considered the single most effective method in the early detection of breast cancer. When caught early, breast cancer responds well to treatment. Our mammography machines can detect a breast lump as small as 1/8 inch, allowing us to make earlier diagnoses that save lives.

Fairview Breast Center offers several options in breast imaging, including:

• 3D mammography
• Breast ultrasound
• Digital mammography
• Stereotactic breast biopsy
• Ultrasound-guided breast biopsy

In addition to breast imaging exams and procedures, we also offer the following diagnostic exams:

• Bone densitometry, also called dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA)
• Diagnostics and laboratory tests
• X-ray

The advantages of 3D mammography

3D mammography—also called digital mammography with tomosynthesis—is one of the latest advancements in breast imaging technology. During this type of mammogram, an X-ray machine takes many pictures of thin slices of the breast from different angles. Using computer software, our imaging specialists combine these images to create a 3D picture.

3D mammograms have proven to increase rates of early detection, which means we can identify breast cancer in its earliest stages, when it's most treatable. There are many benefits associated with 3D mammograms, including:

• Clearer lesion images
• Earlier detection of breast cancer
• Reduced need for unnecessary biopsies, which minimizes patient anxiety and costs

A 3D mammogram may be a better option than a traditional screening mammogram. This may be the case for patients with:

• Dense breast tissue
• Family history of breast cancer
• Previous history of biopsy for suspicious masses or lesions
• Previous mammograms with ambiguous or inconclusive results
• Repeated call backs during previous breast scans

Any patients at Fairview Breast Center may request a 3D mammogram. Additional fees may apply depending on your insurance coverage. Our staff will inform you about any fees you are responsible for when checking in for your appointment.

Arriving at Fairview Breast Center

We offer all of our breast exams and procedures at the Fairview Breast Center. The Fairview Breast Center is located inside the Fairview Park Hospital Imaging Center, which has its own entrance and waiting room.
